About

Made by Hand. Made with Heart. Made in Australia.

Some skills are passed down through generations. For me, it started with my Grandma and Great Aunty — sitting beside them, watching their hands move, learning to knit before I really understood what I was making.

I made baby cardigans first. Then I worked my way up to Aran and Fair Isle. The harder the pattern, the better. There was something deeply satisfying about mastering something intricate, something that took patience and presence.

The Crochet Click

Knitting came naturally. Crochet, on the other hand, took years to crack. I tried many times without success — until one day, watching YouTube videos, something just clicked. I picked up my hook and made my first handbag.

That was the moment everything changed.

During the Covid lockdowns, with the world paused and time suddenly abundant, I threw myself into making. Handbag after handbag. I gave them away to family and friends — and the response was overwhelming. People kept asking where they could get one.

From Hobby to Heart Project

After work, crocheting had always been my way to unwind — a quiet ritual at the end of a long day. Stitch by stitch, it became more than a hobby. Encouraged by the people around me, I turned that passion into Knotty Threads Yamba.

Handmade, Always

Every piece in our collection is made by hand, one stitch at a time. From our signature granny square bags to our natural fibre cardigans, hats, and children's wear — nothing is mass-produced, nothing is rushed. Each item carries the time, care, and intention that only handmade can offer.

We work with natural fibres — hemp, cotton, and other considered materials — chosen for how they feel, how they last, and how gently they sit on the planet.

Slow Fashion, on Purpose

We believe in buying less and choosing well. Knotty Threads Yamba is proudly slow fashion — made to order where possible, designed to be worn for years, and crafted with full transparency about how and where each piece is made.

This isn't fast. It's not meant to be. It's handmade in Australia, with love.

Based in Yamba, NSW

Yamba is home — a small coastal town in northern New South Wales where life moves at its own pace. That spirit is woven into everything we make: unhurried, considered, and made to last.

Thank you for being here. When you choose Knotty Threads, you're choosing something made just for you — by hand, with heart, and with a story that goes back generations.
